On the 29th May 1987 Towney hosted three championship matches, our seniors played Cloughaneely, our Junior A side (what would be known as Reserves there days) played Carndonagh and our third team played Red Hughes a feat we will probably never see again, 63 players were involved that day and all three teams won! The seniors who went onto the final that year won 4-14 to 1-04, the Junior A side who went as far as the semi-finals won 4-08 to 2-03 with Francie Gallagher scoring all four goals while the third team won 2-09 to 0-08 they lost away to Red Hughs and were beaten in the playoff. A special match day programme was printed for the occasion. Referee Thomas McBrearty did all three matches!
